SAYRA Club of the Month

The Lake Murray Sailing Club was founded in the winter of 1969 by a group sailing out of a commercial marina on Lake Murray. The club’s property was purchased in 1971.  The first clubhouse was completed in 1974. In 1988, the original clubhouse was replaced with a modern facility designed to maintain the rural character of the grounds.

The club has two deep water launch ramps, 40 slips, and parking areas for more than 100 boats. The grounds include a large, grassy lakefront for picnicking and swimming.  

The club promotes sailing through an active racing schedule and camps for men, women, teens, and kids. The club also sponsors a community-wide Learn to Sail program for novices just entering sailing.
